At DSEI UK 2025, Vegvisir unveiled Vegvisir NANO, a lightweight, modular addition to its Mixed Reality Situational Awareness System (XRSAS) portfolio. Designed for unmanned vehicles, optionally manned systems, and units needing scalable situational awareness, Nano delivers full 360° battlefield visibility in a compact, affordable package.

While many question whether fiber optics can be reliably used on land, Vegvisir has already answered the call. “While the world waits for proof that fiber optics can operate reliably on land, we’ve already done it. At Vegvisir, we didn’t stop at theory — we built the entire chain from sensor to operator, battlefield-ready today,” said Ingvar Pärnamäe, CEO and Co-founder.

Nano integrates seamlessly with existing IP camera infrastructures and is AI-ready from day one. Despite its compact size, the system retains the hallmarks of the Vegvisir ecosystem, including fiber-proven connectivity, night-capable sensors, and ultra-light helmet-mounted displays for dismounted use.

“Nano represents our next evolution — making advanced situational awareness accessible to platforms and units that previously could not field such technology,” added Ingvar Pärnamäe.

By bridging the gap between traditional manned operations and the unmanned future, Nano allows armed forces to expand capabilities without changing how soldiers operate. Its modular design enables vehicle units to be swapped while keeping the same operator kit, providing both flexibility and cost efficiency for modern forces.

“Nano is the enabler of force transition. It equips militaries with a scalable, future-proof tool that adapts to evolving operational needs, while remaining simple to deploy and use,” said Raido Saremat, Chief Product Officer and Co-founder of Vegvisir.

Nano joins the company’s growing portfolio. Within Mission Solutions, it complements Vegvisir Core and Remote, enhancing operational clarity and situational awareness. Under Command & Control Solutions, the Virtual Command Station enables collaborative decision-making across platforms, uniting the battlefield in real time.

On the modern battlefield, systems are increasingly connected, and the overflow of information begins to reduce combat effectiveness and decision-making if not effectively handled. We have seen from the ongoing war in Ukraine that on one hand, technology is everywhere, and on the other hand, no matter how outdated the equipment, given enough quantity, it still has an impact on the battlefield.
